WHO WE ARE

The history of highland
Highland Baptist Church was started in 1954 with 89 members.  There has been tremendous growth during the past 60 years. There has been a large amount of people coming to know Christ as Lord and Savior. There has been additions in buildings and many renovations that have taken place.  Highland has enjoyed a prosperous 60 years of ministry, but we believe the best days are still ahead of us.  Through the years of existence of the Highland family, there has been a willingness to give, work, and serve in the New London areas and to the ends of the earth.  The resulting testimony is to God be the Glory, great things He has done!

how to join highland
Highland Baptist Church is a family of believers who have joined together to follow Jesus Christ and to share His love throughout Stanly County and to the ends of the earth.  Anyone who is in agreement with our beliefs and mission may present themselves for membership in one of the following ways.

Profession of Faith:
When a person accepts Christ as their person Lord and Savior, becoming a new Christian, they may request membership into Highland by publicly professing their faith and asking for baptism.  If a person is a Christian but has not been baptized by immersion, they may request membership through baptism.

Transfer of Letter:
If a Christian is a member of another Baptist Church, they may request membership by asking that we accept them into our fellowship on promise of letter confirming their membership in a sister church.  Our church office contacts the sister church and requests the letter for transfer of membership.

Statement of Faith and Previous Baptism:
If a person is a Christian but not a member of a Baptist church, they may request membership by giving testimony of having accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and having been previously baptized as a believer by immersion.
If you have any questions or would like more information regarding baptism or church membership, please call the church office at 704-463-5212.
Expectations of a member
When you join Highland Baptist Church, we expect every new member to go through PLACE so that they can better understand who they are in Christ and how they have been gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve the body of Christ at Highland.  For more information on PLACE, click here to go to PLACE page on our website.

Give
We believe that Christians should be the most generous people in the world.  God has richly blessed us and we believe that we should support His work around the world through our local church by our tithes and offerings.

Attend
We expect members to do their best to be active in the life of Highland.  We understand that things happens and you can’t always be here but we believe that consistency in church attendance will be beneficial to your spiritual journey with Jesus.

Support
We expect members to support the various ministries of Highland.  There are many different ways that you can support the ministries of Highland.
  • Pray over them.
  • Find out their needs and give to them.
  • Volunteer your time.
  • Encourage the leaders.

Share
We expect members to share their faith.  We want you to be able to clearly share what God has done in your life.  We have various avenues for you to accomplish this.
